Emotions flared outside the Asokore Mampong District Court on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, as relatives of one of the two murdered mobile money vendors at Krofrom and Kwadaso in the Ashanti Region expressed outrage over what they described as a calculated attempt by one of the accused persons to gain sympathy from the court.

This followed the dramatic collapse of a pregnant woman, accused of serving as an informant among four other suspects involved in the killings and robberies.

The incident temporarily disrupted courtroom proceedings as officers and court officials rushed to revive the accused, who slumped to the floor during the hearing. She was subsequently rushed into a police vehicle and transported for medical attention.

The pregnant suspect has previously been denied bail on multiple occasions, despite raising health concerns.

However, her apparent collapse did little to move the grieving family of the deceased, who accused her of faking the episode in an attempt to evade prosecution on health grounds.

“She is faking it,” a furious family member told reporters. “They should leave her to die so she understands what it means to lose a life. She helped kill someone’s daughter and left her child motherless. She should rot in jail.”

Still grappling with their loss, the devastated family insisted that the suspect must face the full weight of the law and vowed to pursue justice for their loved one.

“You can’t kill someone in cold blood and walk free. If death is so sweet, let her feel it. We are broken, and she should not be allowed to escape justice,” another relative added.

The court has adjourned the case to July 18, 2025, to allow for further investigations and to obtain a medical report on the suspect’s condition.

Meanwhile, prosecutors maintain that they have strong evidence linking all five suspects to the premeditated attacks, which shocked residents and sparked renewed calls for enhanced security for mobile money operators across the region.
