The Anloga District Health Directorate, led by District Health Director Jemima Misonu Akporlu, will officially launch the African Child Health Promotion Week on Monday, May 5, 2025.
The initiative forms part of a nationwide campaign aimed at improving child survival and promoting overall child well-being.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting ahead of the launch, Madam Akporlu highlighted the importance of reaching every child aged 0 to 5 with essential health services during the week-long exercise. This year’s campaign is themed: “Every child deserves a healthy future — invest in your child, attend ‘weighing’ regularly.”
The programme will provide a range of critical services including immunization, vitamin A supplementation, deworming, growth monitoring, birth registration, and health education on nutrition and breastfeeding. It will also promote the use of insecticide-treated mosquito nets to protect children from malaria.
Madam Akporlu urged parents and caregivers to actively participate in the campaign, emphasizing that the health interventions offered will help build a strong foundation for the well-being and future success of Ghana’s children.
