The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Professional Teachers group has recommended to the government to appoint qualified, competent and loyal party teachers to leadership positions within the education sector.

These include regional and district directors of Education, Free Senior High School (FSHS) Coordinators, and heads of Senior High Schools (SHS) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.

The group said such appointments would not only reward dedication and sacrifice but also ensure the effective implementation of government policies aligned with the NDC’s vision for education.

In a statement signed by Chief Nachinaab, National Coordinator of the group, the teachers underlined the critical role party loyalists played in the NDC’s electoral success.

It, therefore, called for their contributions to be recognised through appropriate appointments in the ongoing reshuffle and reorganisation within the sector.

The statement explained that while loyalty to the party was important, appointments should be based on merit – relevant qualifications, demonstrable competence in educational leadership, and a clear understanding of the NDC’s values and development agenda.

“Recognising the dedication of NDC teachers through appointments would motivate party loyalists, enhance policy implementation, and foster stronger collaboration between government and educators,” the group noted.

According to the statement, appointing individuals who werefamiliar with the party’s education priorities would contribute significantly to the realisation of its transformative vision for the sector.

The group urged the Minister of Education and all relevant authorities to ensure that the interest of NDC teachers was thusparamount in the selection process, adding that this would help consolidate support for the party and improve governance outcomes in education.
