Member of Parliament for Asene Akroso Manso, George Kwame Aboagye
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asene Akroso Manso in the Eastern Region, who also serves as the Minority Ranking Member on Energy, George Kwame Aboagye, has expressed dissatisfaction with President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership style, describing it as “Rambo-style.”
The lawmaker, popularly known as “Oluwa,” criticised the President’s approach as undemocratic and unnecessary.
He specifically condemned what he described as the “Rambo-style” operations led by Richard Jakpa and his team, who allegedly storm the homes of former government appointees to effect arrests.
According to him, such actions are not in line with democratic principles and should not be tolerated in today’s civilized and democratic society.
Aboagye made these remarks at Akyem Akroso during a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new party office for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the constituency.
He emphasised that even the military regime of the late President Jerry John Rawlings did not last forever, and urged the current government to adopt a more tolerant and democratic approach when dealing with individuals suspected of misconduct.
The MP condemned what he described as harassment and the storming of homes in a forceful manner.
He criticised the use of National Security personnel and the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) to intimidate former government appointees, stating that such actions are inappropriate.
Instead, he suggested that anyone suspected of wrongdoing should be invited formally to assist with investigations, rather than subjected to what he termed the “Jakpa Rambo-style” tactics.
He further accused the government of failing in its core mandate to the people, citing the ongoing nationwide power crisis, mass dismissals of employees, and the invasion of private homes.
He called on the government to sit up and focus on addressing the pressing needs of the country.
