Ghana’s heroine, Jennifer Awuku, was full of emotions after her goal against Morocco in their opening game at the CAF African Schools Football Championship (ASFC).

Awuku scored the only goal of the game for the girls’ U-15 team on Wednesday at the University of Ghana Stadium as they picked up all three points against Morocco.

The goal came as a relief for head coach Joyce Boatey-Agyei, whose side was only making a debut in the competition.

The player believes the goal is one that would delight her parents.

“I am so happy because I know that wherever my parents are, they will be happy to see me score a goal for Ghana,” she said after the game.

The win sends Ghana joint top of Group A alongside Benin, who defeated Malawi in the other group fixture.

The Black Damsels are up against Benin and Malawi in their next game on Thursday, April 24, looking to advance to the next stage of the competition.

Jennifer Awuku scored the winning goal for Ghana girls against Morocco in the ongoing African Schools Football Championship 2025.
