The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) has rolled out stringent security directives in response to recent killings in Asawase that have heightened tensions and security concerns within the region.

In a statement released on Monday, the Council imposed a ban on all motorbike operations between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., as part of efforts to curb the movement of suspected criminals who often use motorbikes to commit crimes and evade security checks.

During permitted hours, motorbike riders are barred from carrying passengers or additional persons. Riders are also prohibited from wearing bulky clothing such as smocks, heavy jackets, or three-piece outfits that could conceal weapons.

The Council stressed that all unregistered or unlicensed motorbikes are banned from the roads with immediate effect. Commuters have also been cautioned not to carry any weapons, whether licensed or unlicensed, in vehicles or on motorcycles until further notice.

To enforce these measures, there will be increased police and military presence in affected communities, including barriers and random stop-and-search checkpoints.

The ARCC urged the public to cooperate fully with security personnel as these measures are aimed at protecting lives and restoring calm following the tragic incidents in Asawase.

Residents are advised to stay informed and comply with all directives as the region works to prevent further violence and ensure community safety.
