Neuroscience is a rapidly growing field worldwide and an evolving discipline in Ghana, with only a handful of institutions offering neuroscience-related programs. As a field that holds the key to understanding brain function, mental health, and neurological diseases, the need for trained neuroscientists is greater than ever. Recognising this potential, together with Dr Thomas Tagoe of the University of Ghana, we co-authored a paper sharing insights from a pioneering initiative designed to spark interest and build capacity in neuroscience among students in Ghana. Since 2017, the annual NeuroGirl Camp program has empowered hundreds of students through hands-on experiments, mentorship, and career guidance. Now,…

– Source:Global power dynamics in Africa are shifting, with China eclipsing the influence of the US and France. China has become Africa’s single largest trading partner. In response, media and policymakers in traditionally dominant states are increasingly using maps drenched in red or stamped with Chinese flags to depict Beijing’s expanding footprint. One map reproduced by a US congressional committee, for instance, showed Beijing’s influence and reach across the continent in red stripes. But these visuals oversimplify a complex reality. This is an issue I explore in a new study. For over a decade, I have researched the interactions of…
Ali Adolf John, the Northern Regional Minister, has urged the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) to adopt a more comprehensive water rationing mechanism to ensure the fair and equitable distribution of water across the Greater Tamale Metropolis. He said this would help reduce demand, promote efficient water usage, and minimize the ongoing water shortage affecting residents. He emphasized the urgency of addressing the water crisis, especially during Ramadan, when Muslims observe a month-long fast that requires a reliable water supply for daily activities.John made the call on Monday, March 3, 2025, during a meeting with officials of GWCL at his office, where…
The Finance Minister has called for the immediate implementation of key recommendations from the National Economic Dialogue, stressing that the time for discussion is over and action must begin now. Dr Cassiel Ato Forson speaking at the closing session of the dialogue stated that the country already understands its economic challenges and the necessary solutions. What remains, he said, is the collective resolve to implement them. “Most of the presentations actually feed into the first presentation I made. It clearly shows the connections and understanding that together we understand the situation and the problems of this country. What is left…
Joseph Andoh Kwofie will leave secondary school with a lasting legacy when it comes to sprinting in Cape Coast. At the just ended Super Zonals, the Mfantsipim student showcased blistering pace, panache and always got the crowd going after each victory with the famous Cristiano Ronaldo celebration. “Cristiano Ronaldo and Usain Bolt for the meantime [are my idols]. I think they are famous and to be famous you have to follow someone’s steps to get up there,” Kwofie told 3Sports. The 20-year-old, like many before him, began his journey as a footballer and on most nights, watched Ronaldo dominate the…
Recent UNESCO reports (2022) reveal that artificial intelligence is not only revolutionising industries like healthcare and national security but is also challenging longstanding academic norms. AI-generated content has prompted institutions to increasingly rely on advanced anti-plagiarism tools. Yet, there is an inherent irony in the process: the very systems used to police academic integrity are themselves built on artificial intelligence. Moreover, a closer look at global strategy shows that nations such as the United States, China, North Korea, South Korea, India, and Israel have long deployed AI in critical military and strategic applications. For instance, research by the RAND Corporation…

The Ghana Airport Company Limited’s (GACL) initiative to build a Hajj Village has sparked debates, with some attempting to equate it with the National Cathedral project. However, this comparison is not only misplaced but also risks promoting religious bigotry. The Hajj Village and the National Cathedral serve entirely different purposes, with distinct economic and social impacts. Drawing such parallels only fuels unnecessary religious divisions. From a project management perspective, critical considerations such as value for money, investment returns, and corporate social responsibility are key. The Hajj Village aligns well with these principles, offering a clear path to revenue generation. The annual Hajj pilgrimage…
