Consumer spending in Ghana is expected to slow down in the coming months, Deloitte West Africa has predicted in its February 2025 Inflation Update. Public Procurement Authority logo In the ever-growing and increasingly important procurement industry In Ghana, as in many parts of the world, there seems to be some misconception that the terms Procurement & Purchasing are one and the same thing and the terminology is often used interchangeably.“Purchasing” tends to be more tactical buying with price being the main determinant of the decision-making process. Simply obtaining “Three (3) quotes” from suppliers and selecting the cheapest option leaves a lot of unrealized value and opportunities for both the buyer and the seller.“Procurement” on the other hand is distinctly different. Procurement is a strategic…

The minority caucus in Parliament has accused the Mahama government of deliberately plotting to use state institutions to persecute opponents of the NPP and the previous government. In a strongly worded statement, the minority caucus accused the government of prioritising and discussing how to persecute political opponents at its first cabinet meeting last week, adding that the swiftness with which activists of the NPP are being persecuted, is a result of the cabinet meeting. “We are reliably informed that at President Mahama’s first Cabinet meeting, discussions were heavily centered on officials of the previous administration.””It is no coincidence that shortly…

A new report by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has revealed that even though there are employment opportunities in Ghana it is not enough to absorb the growing number of people actively looking for work. The report, titled, “National Report on Productivity, Employment, and Growth”, revealed that the employment rate, which measures the economy’s labour absorption capacity, has declined from 73.9 percent to 55.7 percent between 2000 and 2021. “This suggests that even though the Ghanaian economy is creating employment opportunities, this is not sufficient to absorb the growing working age population”, it said. The story of Yaa Pokuaa, an NPP loyalist popularly known as Obaa Yaa Race Course, moved me so much that I decided to write about to help Ghanaians avoid becoming victims of political parties that are willing to take advantage of them and leave them without any assistance, despite their claims to protect and provide for the welfare of the populace. Obaa Yaa’s experience is a crime against humanity that no one in Ghana should have to endure. We must eliminate scammers.A story headlined “MASLOC gave me a fake check in 2020 with no money in the” account”—NPP Lady Reveals,…
