The Awudome Senior High School (AWUSCO) has inaugurated a new board to lead the implementation of a 6-year strategic plan, formulated by the outgoing board.

The strategic plan contains policies, programmes, and initiatives to guide the development of the school toward achieving academic excellence.

The outgoing Board Chair, Dr. Evans Dzikum said the the 6-year strategic plan and an anti-sexual harassment plan were key achievements in the operations of the board between 2021 and February 2025.

“Our two key outstanding assignments were to design and develop a six (6) year Strategic and Anti- Sexual Harassment Plans for the school. The overarching objective of these plans is to help the school Management team implement strategies to ensure they experience growth and high productivity.

“I am happy to announce that the new plans are ready for immediate implementation. I wish to commend the school management team and the Consultant – Messrs Synergic Plan Consult for their efforts and support to generate this valuable document for the school”, he said at the inauguration ceremony of the new board.

He also listed the completion of the 60th-anniversary Clinic Project, curbing furniture and infrastructure deficits, supply of bunk beds, and upgrading the ICT lab to host external examinations among others as the success of the erstwhile board.

Dr. Dzikum expressed optimism the new board would steer the affairs of the school, enabling AWUSCO to be the beacon of second-cycle schools in the country.

A member of the new board, Mawusi Boadi assured of the board’s commitment to effectively implementing the plans “to raise the image of the school”.

He opined the setting up of farms in the school community to augment the food stock at the stores and ensure students are served more nutritious meals.

The Headmaster OF AWUSCO, Courage Meteku was enthused about the work delivery of the outgoing board which resulted in higher academic achievements of the school.

“The advent of academic success, school-community sanctity, and the appreciable infrastructural facelift we celebrate as an institution is a true reflection of the empowered vision, defined policy direction, and concerted commitment by the Board ably chaired by our highly esteemed Dr. Evans A. Dzikum.

“’Doc’, together with your competent team, kindly receive our token of gratitude, from grateful hearts, we say- Ayekoo! Under your competent leadership, we have witnessed result-driven initiatives and
developments within the school community”, he said.

He expressed management’s readiness to support the new board in achieving the targeted objectives to make the Awudome Senior High School a school of admiration and choice.

“I have enormous trust in the competence, guidance, and divergent expertise of the newly constituted Board that shall be inaugurated today to progressively build on the foundation laid to further the course of the AWUSCO dream – an excellent institution that provides holistic training in a disciplined, information and technology-driven environment”, he said.

The Volta Regional Director of Health, Francis Agbemadi reminded members of the board of their roles in guiding the development of the school.

He entreated the management and students to cooperate with the board for the common good of the school and entreated the board to ensure improved academic performance.

“May I charge the Board to look at this issue critically and take bold steps to ensure that the performance of the school rises continually to the highest level because it has a lot of potentials”, he said.
