The pupils now have water after many years thanks to Emmanuel Pobee (in blue)
Pupils and teachers of Awutu Otopiase Basic in the Awutu Senya West District have received a sign of relief after E A Pobee Foundation constructed a borehole for them after years without water.
Awutu Otopiase is a farming community with a population of over 1000, but access to clean water was a challenge to them.
Speaking to the media, Founder of E A Pobee Foundation, Emmanuel Pobee, expressed joy for putting a smile on the face of the pupils, teachers, and the community as a whole.
“The decision to construct this borehole in Otopiase was guided by the clear and urgent needs of the community.
“For years, the people here have suffered due to the lack of clean and reliable water. During the dry season, families walk long distances in search of water — often settling for streams or rainwater, which are not always safe. This burden has affected school attendance, health, farming, and daily living,” he said.
Emmanuel Pobee added that many children have had to miss school or arrive late simply because they were helping their parents fetch water.
He said, “It became clear to us that Otopiase needed a lasting solution — and by the grace of God, today we are delivering it.
“The poor and needy search for water, but there is none… But I the Lord will answer them; I will not forsake them… I will make rivers flow on barren heights.”
Meanwhile, the District Chief for the Awutu Senya West, Kalala Nyamekye Hagah, also commended the foundation for coming to the aid of the school and promised to help to maintain the borehole to last for long.
Further, Omankrado of Awutu Otopiase Number 2, Nana Kofi Bosompem, also entreat community members to stay away from the school borehole and also raise praise towards Pobee Foundation.
