Commissioner of Police (COP) Mr. Daniel Kwame Afriyie has reminded recruits that the badge they now wear symbolizes trust and national service.

“The badge on your chest is not meant to intimidate but to uphold professionalism and integrity at all times,” he emphasised.

COP Afriyie, the reviewing officers said these during a colourful passing-out ceremony for 238 police recruits at the Volta Regional Police Training School in Ho on Friday.

He called on the new officers to uphold professionalism, discipline, and patriotism as they begin their service to the nation.

COP Afriyie urged the recruits to embrace discipline, selflessness, and a commitment to protecting the public in line with the highest policing standards. He noted that modern security challenges demand officers who are adaptable, tactful, and dedicated to duty.

“Discipline and service are non-negotiable values. The country expects you to rise to the occasion as security threats evolve,” he stated.

He announced that the Ghana Police Service is preparing to establish a 24-Hour Economy Security Secretariat, a dedicated unit to provide security support for businesses and workers operating under government’s flagship 24-hour economy policy.

“The police will play a key role in this initiative, ensuring that workers and enterprises operating around the clock are safe and secure,” COP Afriyie revealed.

The recruits were also encouraged to nurture patriotism and remain loyal to the ideals of national unity, peace, and order.

“You will always be appreciated if you serve the people in your best capacity,” the Commissioner noted, adding that public trust must be earned through responsible and selfless service.

The event was marked by an impressive display of discipline and precision as 31 cadet officers and 207 general recruits showcased their operational readiness in a colourful parade attended by senior officers, government officials, traditional authorities, and family members.

Recruit Emmanuel Amedume emerged as the Overall Best Recruit, an accolade that drew loud applause and cheers from the crowd.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mr. William Yankey Acolatse, the Commanding Officer of the Volta Regional Police Training School, congratulated the recruits for their resilience, hard work, and commitment throughout their rigorous training period, and wished them well in their policing careers.
