Security and International Relations Expert Dr Vladimir Antwi-Danso has warned that the Bawku conflict has far-reaching implications for Ghana’s security and stability.
According to him, if the Bawku conflict left unchecked, the conflict could create an opportunity for terrorist groups to infiltrate the country, potentially leading to a destabilization of the region.
Dr Vladimir Antwi-Danso sounded the alarm during an interview on Otec FM’s morning show “Nyansapo” hosted by Kwaku Owusu Boateng on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
Dr Antwi-Danso noted that there could be involvement of external factors, including potential terrorist groups, which could lead to a destabilization of the region.
He emphasised that the situation requires urgent attention from the government and security agencies to prevent it from escalating into a full-blown security crisis.
“We’re seeing it happen in other parts of the world, where seemingly local conflicts escalate into full-blown security crises,” he warned.
The security expert emphasized that military presence and police deployments alone will not solve the problem, citing the need for a more comprehensive strategy to address the root causes of the unrest.
Dr Antwi-Danso urged those in power and government to take immediate action to prioritize peace in the region, warning that the consequences of inaction could be catastrophic.
Dr Antwi-Danso’s warning highlights the need for a proactive approach to address the Bawku conflict.
“The government and security agencies must work together to develop a comprehensive strategy that addresses the root causes of the conflict and prevents the infiltration of terrorist groups,” he stated.
“The situation demands urgent attention, and failure to act could have severe consequences for Ghana’s security and stability,” he concluded.
