Hassan Ayariga is the founder and leader of the All People’s Congress (APC)
Tempers flared on live television during the Thursday, July 17, 2025, edition of the Good Evening Ghana program when Hassan Ayariga, Founder and Leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), angrily called into the show to blast the spokesperson of the self-proclaimed Igbo King in Ghana.
His outburst followed growing controversies surrounding the king, Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu’s alleged acquisition of over 50 acres of land to build an “Igbo Village” community.
Ayariga accused Ihenetu’s representatives of misleading Ghanaians with their denial of plans to build a community in the country — a controversy that has sparked widespread public outcry and raised serious concerns about Ghana’s sovereignty.
According to Ayariga, there is video evidence showing Ihenetu making claims about acquiring land to build a community in Ghana.
He, therefore, questioned why the king’s representatives were now denying those statements.
“I want to tell the journalist sitting down there that he should stop. Tell him that he should stop misleading Ghanaians.
“Even they said that the man did not acquire land. He himself has said he has land,” he said.
Ayariga shared further details, claiming that Eze Ihenetu had been invited by the National Intelligence Bureau (BNI) and subsequently arrested by National Security operatives.
Although the Igbo King’s representatives refuted the claim, Ayariga insisted that the arrest did occur and added that Ihenetu was detained for a day.
“It was an invitation by NIB, but he was arrested by National Security. He doesn’t even know what he is talking about. Ask him whether he was not detained for 24 hours. Ask him how can you invite somebody and detain me? What is that kind of invitation? I am sending you a video of him being detained,” he disclosed.
The politician issued a stern warning to Eze Ihenetu and his associates, urging them to desist from acting as though they were above the law.
He cautioned that such conduct — especially actions that could pose dangerous risks — might escalate into conflict between the people of Ghana and Nigeria.
“He should be careful of what he is saying so that he can move out of that room alive. He should stop lying and misbehaving. That is not a threat. When you come and lie that your chief did not claim to have a land when there’s video evidence of him saying he has bought 50 acres of land.
“The Nigerians come and lie anyhow and think they can come and sit down and behave as if the country is for them. What do you mean? You people should be very careful in this country. You cannot sit down and talk as if this country is yours, and I am angry because of the way they are talking. He is not a king in Ghana,” he warned.
