Police in Berekum are investigating a robbery incident that took place at a shop at the Berekum ‘Thursday Market’ in the Bono Region.

Thieves broke into the provision shop and made away with undisclosed sums of money and other valuables on Thursday night February 6, 2025.

A police source who confirmed the incident told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that no arrest had since been made and police investigations were on-going.

Madam Grace Ama, the shop owner, told the GNA that the thieves also damaged the shop’s ceiling, and appealed to the public to provide any information they received in connection with the theft to aid police investigations.

She also appealed to other traders and residents around the market to remain watchful and report people with strange movements and suspicious characters to the police too and called for improved lighting systems at the market.

The victims expressed worry that stealing and burgling were becoming rife around the market enclave and urged the police to intensify night patrols and bring the situation under control.
