The Minority in Parliament has condemned the Special Prosecutor’s description of former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta as a fugitive.

At a press briefing in Parliament on Thursday, February 13, 2025, Deputy Minority Leader, Patricia Appiagyei said it is surprising for the OSP to tag Ken Ofori-Atta as a fugitive when no charges have been brought against him.

She said the OSP’s action is without due recourse to law.

“This is shocking when no charges have even been proffered against the former Finance Minister,” she stated.

The Minority caucus further condemned the raid on Ken Ofori-Atta’s house, stating that state security apparatus must not to be used for “political persecution.”

According to the Minority, the government is engaging in “reckless attacks” against former appointees.

“The very leaders who cried foul over what they claim is military intimidation are now wielding power in an even more reckless, tyrannical manner. This is not governance but a hostile takeover,” Patricia noted.

The Minority vowed not to allow “political persecution” in the country cand called for an immediate end to what they say is an attack on its officials.

“We will not remain silent while political persecution takes root in Ghana. This country belongs to all of us and no administration has the right to weaponize state institutions against its political opponent.

“We demand an immediate investigation into these politically motivated attacks and insist that those responsible be held accountable. The harassment of former government officials must cease immediately,

” the Deputy Minority leader added.
