The widely reported complete absence of Mr. Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, who also doubles as the National Democratic Congress-sponsored Member of Parliament for North-Tongu Constituency, in the Volta Region, from an apparent evasion of an executive summons by his fellow legislators, ought to soberly inform the Mahama 2.0 Presidency and the nation, at large, that the diktat or mandate of the largely NDC-crafted 1992 Republican Constitution, which permits most of our cabinet appointees to be culled from Parliament, in an obviously inartistic imitation of the British-fangled Westminster System of Democratic Governance, is wreaking untold havoc on leadership accountability in Ghana (See “ ‘Has He Gone to the Moon?’ – Minority Fumes Over Ablakwa’s Absence from Parliament” Modernghana.com 6/11/25).
We are further reliably informed by the media that not only has Mr. Okudzeto-Ablakwa not practically become AWOL for at least one week and effectively ceased the obligatory performance of his statutorily mandated oversight duties to both his North-Tongu Constituents and the nation at large, the globally infamous former Deputy Foreign Minister has also effectively and decidedly become incommunicado with his colleagues in the august establishment of our National Assembly, the electoral clinching of the North-Tongu Parliamentary Seat as a direct result of which Mr. Ablakwa qualified to be appointed by President John “I Have No Classmates in Ghana” Dramani Mahama as Ghana’s Chief Diplomat and a high-ranking member of the topmost leadership of the country.
As well, we are disturbingly informed that not only has Mr. Ablakwa deliberately and flatly refused to attend and participate in parliamentary activities, he has also apparently decided to be a law unto himself by completely divorcing himself from his oath-sworn duties to our beloved Sovereign Democratic Republic of Ghana as both a ministerial cabinet appointee and the elected representative of the good people of the North-Tongu Constituency. Or knowing the meteorically risen cynical political upstart and opportunistic social climber for what he veritably is, perhaps the voracious publicity hound has decided that this is just another fetching means of making himself the main and sole attraction and talk-of-the-nation, at least momentarily for now.
There may, of course, also be a deliberate and a systematically calculated method to the apparent madness of the former Deputy Education Minister and right-hand man and propaganda shill for his former boss at the Education Ministry, namely, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, who is now Vice-President “Of The Republic,” in popular Ghanaian media speak or parlance. One thing, however, is inescapably clear here – and it is the very high likelihood that Mr. Ablakwa may very well have colluded with the Mahama 2.0 Jubilee House or Presidency to pull this most insolent gimmick on the leadership and the institutional establishment of our august Legislature.
After all, haven’t the likes of Mr. Ablakwa and Dr. Edward (Kofi) Omane-Boamah already long established themselves as veritable scofflaws with the staunch and the unreserved backing of the topmost leadership of the party way back then and now, the Mahama-chaperoned government of the National Democratic Congress. Back then, it was the “Mysteriously Vanished” President John Evans “Atta-Woyome” Mills who brazenly and flagrantly sponsored such criminally minded and morally unsavory and reprobate surrogates as Messrs. Ablakwa and Boamah to publicly taunt and openly defy and blatantly disrespect then Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood, specifically in the Matter of Okudzeto-Ablakwa & Omane-Boamah v. Obetsebi-Lamptey, deceased, regarding the perfectly legitimate acquisition of some real-estate and landed properties under a law crafted and enacted for state-capturing purposes by the extant President Jeremiah “Jerry” John Rawlings-led government of the National Democratic Congress.
In all likelihood, Mr. Ablakwa’s decision to impudently and imprudently evade leadership accountability before his fellow legitimately elected Representatives of the People is both premeditated and one that was collaboratively and collusively orchestrated with the Gonja Mafia Cabal at Jubilee House. It may also very well be what he incontrovertibly means when the Bole-Bamboi native, from the Akufo-Addo-created Savannah Region, talks about “Resetting Ghana,” in much the same manner that Mr. Mahama’s putative role model and icon, namely, US President Donald John Trump, has pontifically declared that he is implacably intent on resetting the development clock of the world’s most technologically advanced civilization in the Twentieth Century, in order to Make a fast-declining America Great Again.
It also goes without saying that by his presently most egregious behavior or misbehavior, Mr. Ablakwa may very well have irreparably undermined the credibility and the integrity of his much-ballyhooed Operation Recover All Loot[s] (ORAL) Crusade, that hypocritically and reprehensibly sought to cynically scapegoat the twice consecutively elected Akufo-Addo-led government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as an unrivaled architect of rank official corruption in Ghana’s Fourth Republic.
Now, we all know that fire and brimstone bluster and all, Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa is absolutely nothing more than a self-infatuated demagogue who envisages democratic governance as a surefire means to serving his own personal and private interests and those of his cronies and paymasters among the topmost leadership of the National Democratic Congress. The man is clearly thumbing his nose/nostrils at his fellow legislators with the equally brazen complicity of the Mahama Jubilee House. Else, why is the President deathly silent on this most politically momentous matter and not even pretending to be poised to replacing his Foreign Minister, if the prematurely bald-pated and buck-toothed Mr. Ablakwa does not immediately and promptly show up for his comfortably salaried work?
