The Chief of Akyem Tafo and custodian of the Ohum Festival, Daasebre Adusei Piasah IV, has announced a two-week ban on noise-making from June 3 to June 17, 2025.

This period of quiet observance is intended to create a peaceful and solemn atmosphere in preparation for the annual Ohum Festival, which will officially begin on June 17 and run through June 22, 2025.

The ban is deeply rooted in tradition and serves as a time for reflection, reverence, and spiritual preparation.

Residents of Akyem Tafo and Akyem Abuakwa are encouraged to honor the customs by refraining from loud music, drumming, and other forms of excessive noise during this sacred period.

Daasebre Adusei Piasah IV emphasized that the Ohum Festival is a moment for the people to connect with their rich heritage, honor their ancestors, and seek blessings for the community.

He highlighted the significance of this year’s celebration, which also marks the 40th anniversary of his enstoolment as Chief of Akyem Tafo.

“The Ohum Festival is more than just a celebration—it is a symbol of our identity and unity as a people,” said Daasebre Adusei Piasah IV.

“This year is especially meaningful to me, as it marks four decades since I was installed as chief. I am calling on all citizens, both at home and abroad, to come together and celebrate our rich culture and shared history.”

The Chief also noted that the ban on noise making is not only a spiritual practice but a means to promote unity and harmony among the people of Akyem Tafo and neighboring communities.

He urged all residents to cooperate fully and respect the tradition, so that the festival can be celebrated in peace and dignity.

“Let us all come together in unity and support the efforts to preserve our cultural heritage. I invite everyone to join us for this historic Ohum Festival and make it a truly memorable one,” he concluded.

The festival is to commence on June 17, marking 40 Years of Chieftaincy for Daasebre Adusei Piasah IV
