Prominent Islamic cleric Sheikh Abdul Malik Maiga has called on President John Dramani Mahama to consider embracing Islam, describing it as a path to deepen his spiritual connection with Allah and sustain the divine favor that has marked his political life.
In a recent address, Sheikh Maiga reflected on the President’s extraordinary political rise — from his early days as an assemblyman and Member of Parliament for Bole, to becoming Deputy Minister for Communication, then Minister, Vice President, and ultimately President of Ghana.
The cleric described Mahama’s ascent as divinely orchestrated, emphasizing the unique circumstances under which he assumed the presidency.
“Allah has truly shown His mercy and favor upon President Mahama,” Sheikh Maiga stated. “His political trajectory and the circumstances of his rise are a testament to divine intervention. It is only fitting that, to continue enjoying this divine favor, he considers embracing Islam.”
Sheikh Maiga expressed hope that the President would one day officially convert to Islam, seeing it as a step that would align him even more closely with divine will and spiritual blessings.
He further urged Ghanaians to pray for this transformation, calling for a nation where leaders embody and uphold spiritual virtues rooted in faith.
This appeal has stirred debate across religious and political circles, with many Ghanaians reflecting on the connection between leadership, faith, and divine guidance.
As the country commemorates Republic Day with national prayers, Sheikh Maiga’s message adds a deeply spiritual tone to the occasion, reminding both leaders and citizens of the role faith plays in shaping Ghana’s destiny.
