The Majority Chief Whip of Ghana’s Parliament, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor; and the Ranking Member on the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament, Rev John Ntim Fordjour, were at each other’s throats on social media on May 7, 2025.

The two Members of Parliament lambasted each other over a claim by embattled former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Kwabena Adu-Boahene, that some GH¢49m he has been accused of stealing was used to pay individuals and entities, including members of committees of Parliament, for national security activities.

He listed 10 “special operations” as well as the individuals and outfits who benefited from the funds and the amounts they received.

The list included a supposed disbursement of over GH¢9.5 million to ISC Holdings for “Special Operations” in 2020; GH¢6.9 million to various personnel for “Operation Conquered Fist” between 2020 and 2024; and over GH¢3.7 million for “Operation Calm Life” to various individuals between 2020 and 2024.

The other payments include GH¢960,000 as allowances to members of the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament and GH¢309,000 to the Subsidiary Legislation Committee for the enactment of laws for the NSB.

Rev Ntim Fordjour, who is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin South, in a post shared on X, described the allegation by Adu-Boahene as scandalous.

He was particularly bemused by the supposed payment made to the committees of Parliament and called for an investigation.

He claimed that the “opposition political party” Adu-Boahene mentioned as having been given GH¢8.3 million was the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“This is shocking, scary and a major National Security scandal!!! 8.3 million cedis support for NDC at the peak of 2024 Election campaign? 960,000 cedis for Defence & Interior Committee in 2020/21 for passing legislation?

“309,000 cedis for Subsidiary Legislation Committee in 2024 for passing LI? 5.135 million cedis expended on President Mahama’s (President-Elect) Special Aides in Dec 2024? The taxpayer deserves a thorough and transparently conducted probe into the above financial impropriety. This must not be politics as usual,” he wrote.

The remarks of Rev John Ntim Fordjour did not sit well with Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, who is the MP for South Dayi, who said he was saddened by his colleague MP’s remarks.

He replied the Assin South MP, telling him that he was making a fool of himself, adding that Rev Ntim Fordjour, as the Ranking Member on the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament, should know who to address such an issue to.

“Hon Ntim Fordjour, you’re embarrassing yourself as an MP & I feel sad for you. Someone claims he brought illicit money to the Defence & Interior Committee in 2024, at a time when your NPP colleague Hon Kennedy Agyepong of Assin Central was the Chairman, supposedly as allowance to committee members for a Bill enacted into law in 2020, and you don’t find anything wrong with such a story?

“In any case, the Defence & Interior Committee is now ranked by you as MP for Assin South, so don’t sit here and ask questions. Don’t you know what to do?” the South Dayi legislator wrote.

He added that the NDC did not receive any money from the former Director-General of the NSB.

Ntim Fordjour hit back, describing Dafeamekpor’s reaction as “uncouth” and “unfit for a response.”

He suggested that Dafeamekpor benefited from the money given to one of the committees, adding that he (the South Dayi MP) should be prepared to answer questions on his role when the probe into the issue begins.

“While I consider your uncouth reaction unfit for a response from me, it will serve the purpose of exposing your extreme discomfort to probes to spare a few words to urge you to get ready to explain when the probe begins, how much you personally earned from the GH¢360,000 Adu-Boahene claims he gave to your committee on Subsidiary Legislation of which you were the Vice Chairman??” he wrote.
