Community advocate and entrepreneur Daniel Nyame
Community advocate and entrepreneur Daniel Nyame has declared his intention to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary seat in Akwatia following the death of Ernest Kumi, who served as the Member of Parliament for the area.
In a statement issued on July 17, 2025, and sighted by GhanaWeb, Nyame described the late Kumi as a dedicated leader and friend whose absence leaves a void in the constituency and the party, stressing the need for unity and renewal within the NPP.
“After much prayer and consultation, I have made the decision to offer myself in service to the people of Akwatia through the NPP. This is not a quest for personal ambition, but a heartfelt commitment to the growth and development of our community,” he announced.
Nyame emphasised his dedication to youth empowerment and inclusive leadership, pledging to bring renewed energy and a forward-thinking approach that resonates with both older and younger constituents.
He further appealed to party delegates to support his bid in order to strengthen the party’s numbers in Parliament.
“In honoring the legacy of Hon. Ernest Kumi, let us come together as one party and one people, with a shared vision for Akwatia’s future,” he added.
Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party is expected to outline a roadmap for the by-election in the coming days as it seeks to retain the seat.
