As the 2026 World Cup draws near, Ghanaian players abroad are making strong cases for inclusion in Otto Addo’s Black Stars squad.

The latest round of fixtures saw several Ghanaian players deliver impressive performances, scoring crucial goals and providing assists that helped their teams secure vital wins.

Tariq Lamptey, Brighton

Tariq Lamptey stole the show in Brighton’s FA Cup clash against Chelsea, earning the Man of the Match award. The 22-year-old right-back was a force to be reckoned with, winning 12 out of 15 duels and 6 out of 9 tackles. His impressive performance helped Brighton come from behind to knock Chelsea out of the competition. Lamptey’s fine form is a welcome boost to Ghana’s chances of securing a consecutive World Cup appearance.

Antoine Semenyo, Bournemouth

Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo continued his fine form in front of goal, scoring from the penalty spot in the 2-0 win over Everton. The Ghanaian forward has now scored 4 goals in his last 6 matches, with 2 assists to his name. Semenyo’s tricky movements and technique on the pitch are causing problems for opposing defenders. His goal-scoring form is a significant boost to Ghana’s attacking options ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Mohammed Fuseini, Union Saint-Gilloise

Mohammed Fuseini scored his 7th goal in all competitions for Union Saint-Gilloise this season. The Ghanaian international’s goal against Kortrijk was enough to help his side secure a narrow 2-1 victory away from home. Fuseini has been directly involved in 10 goals this season, with 7 goals and 3 assists. His goal-scoring form is a welcome addition to Ghana’s attacking options.

Prince Adu Kwabena, Viktoria Plzen

Ghanaian forward Prince Adu Kwabena continued his impressive form for Viktoria Plzen, scoring his fifth league goal in nine starts in a thrilling 3-2 win over Slovan Liberec. The 21-year-old’s goal-scoring exploits have been a highlight of the season, with an impressive tally of 10 goals and 2 assists in 25 games.

Inaki Williams, Athletic Bilbao

Athletic Bilbao’s Inaki Williams bagged his seventh La Liga assist of the season against Girona. This is the most assists Williams has managed in a single campaign. Only Lamine Yamal has more assists than the Ghanaian forward. Williams’ creativity and vision on the pitch are making him a vital cog in Bilbao’s attacking machinery. His assist-making skills will be crucial to Ghana’s chances of success at the 2026 World Cup.

Ebenezer Annan, Red Star Belgrade

Ebenezer Annan is making waves in the Serbian league with Red Star Belgrade. The Ghanaian left-back provided a crucial assist in his team’s 6-0 thrashing of Radnicki, marking his second game since returning from a loan stint at OFK Beograd that was cut short. This impressive performance is a testament to Annan’s skills and adaptability on the pitch.

Denis Odoi, Royal Antwerp

Antwerp’s Denis Odoi scored his first goal of the season against Anderlecht in the Belgian Cup semi-final. Although Odoi’s goal was marred by a later red card, his performance before being sent off was impressive. Odoi’s goal-scoring return is a welcome boost to Ghana’s defensive options ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

While recent results of Ghanaian players abroad are encouraging, consistency will be key to long-term success. As the season unfolds, fans can expect more thrilling performances, surprising upsets, and a renewed sense of pride in Ghanaian football.
