In accordance with the customs that complete his initiation and installation process as Divisional Chief of Kasunya, an induction ceremony was conducted for Nene Narteh Otutoto-Akakposu VI by the Osudoku Traditional Council in the Greater Accra Region.
This sacred ceremony further legitimizes his reign as Divisional Chief, empowering him to engage in the activities of the council.
The event was presided over by the Paramount Chief of Osudoku and President of the Traditional Council, Nene Kweku-Otiti Animle VII.
Following his installation in 2011, Nene Narteh Otutoto-Akakposu was presented to the late paramount chief of the area, after which he took his oath of office before a Dodowa court.
His subsequent induction and introduction into the Traditional Council represent a crucial facet of the process. The ceremony thus served to formally present the divisional chief to the Osudoku Traditional Council.
Accompanied by elders, family, and friends, Nene Narteh Otutoto-Akakposu VI, adorned in resplendent all-white attire and embellished with various amulets, arrived at the council bearing the requisite list of items.
“After your kingmakers enstool you as a divisional chief, you must be introduced to the paramount chief. Subsequently, the paramount chief will outdoor you, after which you must undergo induction… and only then are you introduced to the traditional council,” elucidated Nene Amanor Aklebeto I, Secretary of the Osudoku Matse and Spokesperson for the Osudoku State.
Nene Kweku-Otiti Animle VII urged the chief to collaborate with and seek counsel from his sub-chiefs and members of the traditional council and the paramountcy at all times, emphasizing the importance of accepting all advice in good faith.
“Consult the paramountcy when making critical decisions; this will not only benefit the people of Osudoku but will also serve your interests,” he advised the divisional chief.
In pledging his support for the new chief in fulfilling his responsibilities, the paramount chief charged him to prioritise the welfare of the youth, cautioning that he risks alienating the populace if he fails to foster unity through effective leadership.
These qualities, he stressed, would enable him to consolidate his authority and establish himself firmly in his role.
“Regular meetings with your subjects will fortify your leadership, affirm your position, and enable you to assert your authority,” he articulated.
Encouraging the sub-chiefs to stand by their chief during challenging times and to offer unwavering support, the paramount chief underscored the value of unity, asserting that greed must be shunned at all times.
Nene Kweku-Otiti assured Nene Narteh Otutoto-Akakposu of the council’s readiness to collaborate with him and encouraged him to contribute his ideas to elevate the stature of the entire Osudoku Traditional Council.
Nene Narteh Otutoto-Akakposu reaffirmed his commitment to serve with humility, heed the wise counsel of the elders, and play his part to uphold the integrity of the council.
He also assured the council that he would endeavor to inspire the youth in Kasunya and its surroundings to conduct themselves in ways that would create opportunities for them within the traditional area.
However, the chief lamented the insufficiency of developmental projects within the host community, particularly from banana producers and Golden Exotics, expressing concern over the apparent lack of progress.
“We are not reaping the benefits from the operations of Golden Exotics; they have left our roads in a state of disrepair… they should contribute their fair share to the development of the community,” he remarked.
Nevertheless, the divisional chief called for love, peace, and unity among his people, emphasising the necessity for collective efforts to elevate the community to its aspired heights.
