Leader of Darul Tawheed Institute, Doctuur Abu Dujana Basha has expressed his gratitude to the president of the republic, John Dramani Mahama for reducing the Hajj Fare for Muslim pilgrims this year.
He made the appeal when he was concluding on the issue in a radio interview with Radio Tamale’s Fuseini Safianu on Bugum Beni yesterday, Wednesday, February 5.
According to the leader of Darul Tawheed Institute, the President’s gesture towards the 2025 pilgrim has eased the burden on the Muslim wummah in the country, hence the reason the Muslim community should offer a prayer as an appreciation for the President.
“I want to use this opportunity to call on all Muslim leaders in the country to thank the president during our Friday congregational prayer by praying for President John Drammani Mahama. He has lifted a greater burden on us as Muslims,” Doctuur Abu Dujana appealed.
“Let us our Jummah platforms to thank the president in appreciation of the reduction in Hajj Fares as 2025 Hajj approaches. He has demonstrated that he is a listening president. So far he has fulfilled two (2) major promises made to Muslims during the campaign. And we grateful to him,” he added.
The deputy Presidential Spokesperson, Shamima Muslim yesterday February 5, announced that the 2025 Hajj fare has been reduced to GH₵62,000 (approximately $4,130).
In a series of Facebook posts on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, she also disclosed that Ghana’s Hajj quota has been increased to 5,000 pilgrims, an increment of 1,000 from the previous year.
This development follows President John Dramani Mahama’s campaign promise to reduce fares.
Over the years, the cost of Hajj in Ghana has varied. In 2023, pilgrims paid approximately GH₵75,000.
The 2024 fare was maintained at the same amount, equivalent to around $6,500. In Côte d’Ivoire, pilgrims paid approximately $5,500 for the 2024 Hajj, with the same fee maintained for 2025.
