Former Eastern Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. David Prah, has made a passionate case for Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum to lead the party into the 2028 elections, describing him as the most qualified to deliver Ghana’s next phase of economic transformation.
In an exclusive interview, Mr. Prah highlighted Dr. Adutwum’s unique blend of academic excellence, international exposure, and a proven track record in public service, insisting these qualities position him as the ideal candidate to create jobs and grow the economy.
“If Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum becomes our next leader, Ghana’s GDP can rise to 10 percent or even more,” Mr. Prah stated confidently. “He has the vision, the global exposure, and the track record to create jobs and drive our socio-economic development.”
From California to Ghana: A Global Leader with Local Impact
Mr. Prah underscored Dr. Adutwum’s journey from founding the New Designs Educational Group in California—where he empowered thousands of underserved students—to becoming one of Ghana’s most impactful Education Ministers.
“He was the CEO and Founder of New Designs Educational Group in California, where he empowered thousands of students, mostly from minority communities, and employed hundreds of staff,” he said. “That’s leadership in action, not just in theory.”
Dr. Adutwum holds a PhD in Educational Policy and Administration from the University of Southern California, a Master’s in Educational Management from the University of La Verne, and a teaching diploma from Chapman University, all institutions based in the United States. According to Mr. Prah, these credentials give him a solid grasp of how to align education with economic growth.
Proven Reformer in Ghana’s Education Sector
Prah stressed that Adutwum’s impact goes beyond theory. During his tenure as Education Minister, he spearheaded major reforms that linked learning directly to job creation.
“He transformed our education sector with practical innovations,” Prah said. “He built STEM senior high schools equipped with robotics labs, engineering workshops, and coding centres. This was not talk, these schools are real and functioning today.”
Dr. Adutwum also personally sponsored 150 students from his Bosomtwe constituency to pursue medicine and engineering in top local universities, an initiative Prah hailed as “unprecedented in Ghana’s political history.”
“That alone shows his heart for youth development. He didn’t wait for government; he used his own resources to change lives. That’s leadership.”
Linking Education to GDP Growth
Prah noted that Dr. Adutwum’s reforms made education an engine for economic growth by emphasizing skills training, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
“His reforms focused on skills, innovation, and entrepreneurship. When you train a young person to code, to build, or to invent, you’re not just educating, you’re creating a job,” he explained. “This is how Ghana’s GDP can rise, by unleashing the productive potential of our youth through targeted education policies. Dr. Adutwum understands this better than anyone in our political space.”
Global Recognition, Local Commitment
He further highlighted Dr. Adutwum’s recognition on the world stage, pointing to his role as Chairman of Ghana’s Commission for UNESCO and his membership in the UN’s High-Level Advisory Group for Mission 4.7 on education.
“We have a man who sits on the world stage with leaders from UNESCO, the UN, and global universities—yet he remains grounded in Jachie, his hometown, serving his people. This kind of balance is rare,” Mr. Prah stated.
Dr. Adutwum also serves on the advisory board of the Capacity Building Centre at UCLA and is a patron of the Africa Curriculum Association—roles Mr. Prah says prove that “Adutwum is respected everywhere knowledge is valued.”
Let’s Not Miss This Opportunity
With Ghana battling high unemployment and sluggish industrial growth, Prah urged the NPP to make a bold and visionary choice.
“This is not the time to gamble with empty promises or recycled slogans. We need a visionary leader who delivers. Dr. Adutwum is tested, trusted, and transformational.”
He called on party delegates to look beyond internal politics and back a candidate with a national appeal.
“He is not just another politician, he is a builder of systems, of futures, of nations. And if we support him, Ghana will rise to its true potential.”
As momentum builds toward the NPP’s presidential primaries, David Prah’s endorsement adds fuel to what many believe is a groundswell of support for Dr. Adutwum, a man seen by his supporters as the bridge between vision and real, measurable development.
