Duncan-Williams commends President Mahama for instituting National Day of Prayer

The Founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, has commended President John Dramani Mahama for instituting the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, scheduled for July 1, 2025, describing it as a bold and timely move to seek divine intervention for the nation’s challenges.

He made the remarks during a courtesy call by the planning committee led by Chairman Elvis Afriyie Ankrah on Monday, June 9, as part of stakeholder engagements ahead of the national observance.

The event will begin with a Christian prayer service at the forecourt of the State House from 8 am to 10 am, followed by Muslim prayers at the National Mosque from 12:30 to 2 pm.

Simultaneous prayer sessions will also be held in all 16 regions and across the 275 districts of the country.

Archbishop Duncan-Williams stressed the importance of national gratitude, warning that individuals and nations who fail to acknowledge their Creator often face decline.

“It’s a good initiative, it’s normally not done. It’s important that we commend the President and the whole committee for the efforts they have made to come together to set a day aside in the year to give thanks.

“Thanksgiving is an attitude of gratitude, and anybody who doesn’t show gratitude doesn’t live long. The Most High manufactured us and the nations, and we cannot do without him. It’s a very good initiative and I highly commend the President and the entire committee,” he stated.
