The Eastern Patriots, a strategic volunteer group within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), held their inaugural general meeting in Koforidua, signalling a renewed commitment to restoring the party’s fortunes following its defeat in the 2024 general elections.
Held under the theme “Rebuilding for Victory 2028,” the event marked a significant step toward reenergising the party’s grassroots structures and mobilising support across the Eastern Region. The gathering attracted an impressive list of high-profile attendees, including current and former government appointees, regional executives, and constituency officers, highlighting the growing influence of the Eastern Patriots within the NPP’s internal structure.
Among the key figures present were Hon. David Prah, former Director General of TVET; Hon. Prince Sefah, former CEO of GIFEC; Hon. The highlight of the meeting was the presence of the Eastern Regional Chairman of the NPP, Hon. Jeff Konadu Addo, who delivered the keynote address. He emphasized the urgent need for unity and reconciliation within the party, noting that internal cohesion would be a decisive factor in reclaiming power in 2028.
“The strength of our party lies in our ability to remain united, even in the face of setbacks,” Hon. Konadu Addo said. “If we can overcome our internal divisions and work together with a common goal, we will return stronger, not only for ourselves but for the people of the Eastern Region and Ghana.”
During the session, the Eastern Patriots outlined a series of strategic plans aimed at reviving the party’s presence at the grassroots level. These included enhanced member mobilisation, capacity building, youth engagement, and improved communication strategies to bridge gaps between leadership and the base.
Speakers underscored the pivotal role of young people in shaping the party’s future and urged greater participation and mentorship across the party’s structures. Members also discussed the importance of resource mobilisation, volunteer coordination, and constituency-level training as part of the broader restructuring efforts.
The meeting ended with a renewed sense of purpose and collective determination to position the NPP for a strong comeback in 2028. The Eastern Patriots pledged to continue working closely with the party leadership to ensure the successful implementation of the ideas discussed at the meeting.
