Ebenezer Kofi Aidoo, MCE for Ahanta West
Ebenezer Kofi Aidoo has been confirmed as the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ahanta West in the Western Region.
He was nominated by President John Dramani Mahama on Friday, April 4, 2025.
Aidoo, who currently works with Medeama Sporting Club in Tarkwa, secured unanimous support during a confirmation election conducted by officials of the Ahanta West Municipal Electoral Commission on Monday, April 28, 2025.
He received all 52 votes, representing a 100% endorsement by the assembly members.
In the same sitting, Isaac Simons Bassaw was also confirmed as the new Presiding Member (PM) of the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly after securing 48 ‘YES’ votes.
The Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, who represented President Mahama at the event, commended the assembly members for endorsing the President’s nominees.
He urged them to support the new MCE and PM to ensure the success of their administration.
He further called on both the MCE and PM to foster unity among the people of Ahanta West to accelerate development in the municipality.
Member of Parliament for the area, Mavis Kuukua Bissue, expressed her gratitude to the assembly members for their vote of confidence in the new leadership.
She appealed to residents to continue living in peace and unity, and to set aside political differences to support the MCE in developing the municipality.
In his acceptance speech, Ebenezer Kofi Aidoo thanked President Mahama and the NDC Constituency and Regional Executives for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading Ahanta West.
He also expressed deep appreciation to the assembly members for their unanimous support.
“My doors are open to all. I will work with everyone in this beautiful municipality to bring more development to our people. I look forward to working closely with the MP and our committed assembly members. May God bless President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC Constituency and Regional Executives for appointing and supporting me, I am truly grateful,” he said.
The confirmation ceremony was attended by the NDC Western Regional Chairman, Nana Toku, other NDC regional executives, Nana Bonya Kofi VI, acting president of the Eastern Nzema Traditional Council, and other dignitaries.
