Ebenezer Aidoo confirmed as Ahanta West MCE
Ebenezer Kofi Aidoo has been overwhelmingly confirmed as the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ahanta West in the Western Region.
He was nominated by President John Dramani Mahama on Friday, April 4, 2025.
Ebenezer Kofi Aidoo currently works with Medeama Sporting Club in Tarkwa.
In an election conducted by officials of the Ahanta West Municipal Electoral Commission on Monday, April 28, 2025, Ebenezer Aidoo secured all 52 votes, representing a 100 percent endorsement.
Isaac Simons Bassaw also secured 48 YES votes to be confirmed as the new Presiding Member (PM) of the Ahanta West Municipality.
The Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, who represented President John Dramani Mahama at the event, commended the assembly members for endorsing the President’s nominees. He urged them to rally behind the new MCE and PM to ensure their success.
He further called on the new MCE and PM to unite the good people of Ahanta West to accelerate development in the area.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Mavis Kuukua Bissue, thanked the assembly members for the confidence placed in the new MCE and PM. She appealed to the residents to continue living in peace and unity. She also encouraged them to put aside political differences and rally behind the MCE to develop the municipality.
In his acceptance remarks, Ebenezer Kofi Aidoo thanked President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC Constituency and Regional Executives for appointing him to lead the people of Ahanta West as their MCE.
He also expressed gratitude to the assembly members for reposing their trust in him and pledged to work tirelessly with the assembly and the MP to drive development in the area.
“My doors are open to all; I will work with everyone in this beautiful municipality to bring more development to our people. I will work closely with the MP and my able assembly members. God bless President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC Constituency and Regional Executives for appointing and supporting me to reach this far. I’m most grateful,” he stated.
The event was graced by the NDC Western Regional Chairman, Nana Toku; NDC Regional Executives; Nana Bonya Kofi VI, the Acting President of the Eastern Nzema Traditional Council; among others.
