Ebenezer Cobbinah (L) has been confrimed as the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE)
The assembly members in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly of the Western region have confirmed Ebenezer Cobbinah as the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area.
In an election conducted by the officials of the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Electoral Commission and monitored by the Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, the President’s nominee, Ebenezer Cobbinah, secured all the 42 votes, representing 100 per cent as unprecedented.
Ebenezer Cobbinah was nominated by President John Dramani Mahama on Friday, April 4, 2025.
Speaking to the media after the confirmation at Tarkwa, Ebenezer Cobbinah expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for the confidence reposed in him.
“Let me use this opportunity to thank President John Dramani Mahama for giving me such a great opportunity to serve my people, I’m very happy and thankful to Almighty God for blessing me”, he acknowledged.
He further commended the assembly members in the area for their endorsement.
“Our Assembly members have demonstrated that they love the development of Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly, and I thank them for electing me as their MCE.”
He thanked the NDC executives by stating “the love my NDC executives have for me is very great and I thank all NDC members, especially the branch, Constituency and Regional Executives for their support, and I also thank our Western Regional Minister for the support”.
Ebenezer Cobbinah took the opportunity to pledge to unite the good people of Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality to drive development in the area.
He called on the assembly members and other people in the Municipality to rally behind him to succeed.
The MP for Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency, Issah Taylor, commended the assembly members for the trust reposed in Ebenezer Cobbinah as their MCE.
He commended the immediate past MCE for the area, Benjamin Kessie, for attending the event and urged him to rally behind the new MCE to succeed.
“In fact, today I’m very happy because we have the former MCE, who the former president Akufo Addo appointed, Hon Benjamin Kessie, in our midst, and this is unprecedented, and this shows that there is unity in Tarkwa-Nsuaem, and this will bring more development here”, he expressed happiness.
He added that, “Now that we have MCE, I can sleep well in Accra because this MCE is going to help me to reduce the burden and whenever I’m not in the Constituency I will not be afraid because the MCE will help so I’m very happy and I thank President John Mahama.”
He pledged to work closely with the MCE to reset Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality.
The Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, commended all the assembly members in the region for demonstrating maturity by confirming the President’s nominees.
“So far, no district has rejected their nominee, and we have to thank all the assembly members in this region; they have demonstrated maturity, and I believe the rest of the other regions will learn from Western region assembly members”, he stated.
He called on the good people of the Western region to rally behind all the MMDCEs to drive development to the areas.
In a related development, Peter Amponsah polled 32 YES votes out of 33 votes to become the new District Chief Executive (DCE) for Wassa Amenfi Central.
This milestone underscored the strong support he enjoys from the Assembly members as he takes on the new role.
Nicolas Amankwah, the MP for the area, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the assembly members and also thanked President John Dramani Mahama for the trust placed in Peter Amponsah.
He promised to offer his total support to the new DCE to succeed.
Raymond Nana Ebbah has been overwhelmingly confirmed as the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Waasa Amenfi East after polling all 41 votes in an election conducted by Electoral Commission officials in the area and monitored by the Western Regional Minister and NDC Western Regional Chairman.
