Eight candidates writing this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) have been caught with foreign materials at the Dodo-Amanfrom Examination Centre in the Oti Region.
The students were apprehended during the Career Technology paper on Thursday, June 12, 2025, by two officials from the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
Following the discovery, the candidates were asked to write official statements before being allowed to continue with the examination.
Mr. Michael Agbeko, Supervisor-in-Charge at the centre, confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), stating that no invigilators were found to be complicit.
Mr. Christopher Agor’ll, the Kadjebi District Examination Officer, also verified the occurrence and issued a strong warning to candidates to avoid bringing unauthorized materials into the exam hall.
“There are clear consequences for such actions, and we advise all candidates to strictly adhere to examination regulations,” he cautioned.
A total of 1,467 candidates—comprising 765 males and 702 females—are sitting for the BECE in the Kadjebi District this year.
