Eugene Amo-Asamoah, Business Development Manager at KCARP, the largest compost and recycling plant in Africa, has received the prestigious Youth in Environment Award at the Millennium Excellence Awards.
The event, held at the Manhyia Palace on May 9, 2025, was organized by the Millennium Excellence Foundation, a renowned NGO dedicated to recognizing and celebrating outstanding achievements across diverse fields.
The award was bestowed upon Amo-Asamoah by His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, the life patron of the Foundation, along with the distinguished Executive Board, in recognition of his exemplary leadership and impactful contributions to environmental and climate sustainability.
Amo-Asamoah’s career has been marked by pioneering efforts in waste management and recycling, consistently driving business growth and fostering innovation within the sector.
He has led the implementation of sustainable waste management projects across numerous communities in Ghana and beyond.
His leadership also includes the development and execution of comprehensive waste management strategies for institutions and organizations, providing invaluable technical assistance to both government agencies and private sector companies.
His dedication to environmental stewardship is evident in his strong advocacy for regulated and environmentally compliant waste collection practices. Through his initiatives, communities are not only achieving greater cleanliness but also unlocking economic opportunities.
Following the awards ceremony, Amo-Asamoah expressed deep gratitude, acknowledging the essential contributions of his team. He also made a passionate call for collective action toward a cleaner, more sustainable environment.
“I am very humbled and honored to have received the Highest Honour Award (Youth in Environment),” Amo-Asamoah said. “My heartfelt gratitude goes to HRM Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, and his distinguished Executive Board for this prestigious recognition. I would also like to thank the Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, for his mentorship and guidance, and all colleagues, team members, and staff for the various roles they’ve played in making this possible. I also want to thank my wife and kids for their unflinching support over the years. We all need to take responsibility for our environment, and I invite everyone to join me in the quest to make it a better place for all.”
He emphasized that this recognition would serve as powerful motivation to continue his impactful work.
