Exploratory committee report reveals my vision aligns with Ghanaians’ expectations — Bryan Acheampong

Member of Parliament for Abetifi and former Minister for Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong, says findings from his exploratory committee show that his leadership vision aligns with the expectations of Ghanaians and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr. Acheampong formed the exploratory committee in May following encouragement from party faithful and extensive consultations with his family and close associates.

The committee was tasked with assessing the alignment between his vision and the aspirations of the party and the broader Ghanaian populace.

Speaking to the media in Accra on Tuesday, June 24, Mr. Acheampong said the report concluded that the party and the country are seeking a leader who can unify the base, inspire the youth, create jobs, strengthen security, and improve infrastructure.

“The report largely aligns with what I set out to do. There were a few areas I need to further align with the party, but the most important conclusion was that there is a need for a candidate who can galvanize the party,”

“There’s also a need for a candidate who can inspire hope in the youth—someone whose vision can create jobs, strengthen national security, and revamp our country’s infrastructure,” he added.

He made the remarks after visiting the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church, where he formally disclosed his intention to contest the NPP’s flagbearer position ahead of the 2028 general elections.

He explained that as a committed member of the Presbyterian Church, it was important to first inform the church’s leadership before making a public declaration.

“And so, with that said, the decision I’ve made is that I will contest when the party opens nominations. But as a product of the church, I felt it was important to first inform the General Council and the Moderator,” he stated.

The NPP, at its National Executive Council meeting on Tuesday, June 17, set January 31, 2026, as the date to elect its flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
