Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson is set to present the government’s 2025 budget to Parliament and the Ghanaian public on Tuesday, March 11.

Ahead of this crucial event, the minister engaged with traders at the Makola Market to understand their concerns and expectations for the upcoming budget.

In a social media post on Saturday, March 8, Dr. Ato Forson shared insights from his visit, highlighting interactions with market women, head porters (kayayei), and other traders.

The discussions centered on their daily struggles, economic challenges, and the kind of support they hope to see reflected in the national budget.

“It was a privilege to interact with these hardworking Ghanaians who break their backs daily to support our economy,” the minister stated. He emphasized that their expectations would help shape policies aimed at fostering economic growth and improving livelihoods.

The engagement comes at a time when many Ghanaians are keenly anticipating the 2025 budget, which is expected to address key economic issues, including inflation, employment opportunities, and support for small businesses.

The minister’s outreach to traders signals the government’s commitment to inclusive policymaking, ensuring that grassroots concerns are factored into national economic decisions.

The 2025 budget, to be presented in Parliament on March 11, is expected to outline the government’s fiscal strategy, revenue measures, and expenditure plans for the coming year.

Stakeholders across various sectors will be watching closely to see how the government plans to navigate economic challenges and drive growth.
