President Mahama expressed admiration for the architectural quality of the Ministry's building President Mahama expressed admiration for the architectural quality of the Ministry’s building

President John Dramani Mahama has applauded the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration for its impressive new office complex, describing it as one of the most well-appointed government facilities in the country.

The President made the remarks during his first official visit to the Ministry since its reconstruction. Addressing attendees at the Ghana European Union Partnership Dialogue in Accra on Monday, June 17, 2025, he expressed admiration for the architectural quality and interior finishing of the building, humorously suggesting it might be superior to the seat of government itself.

“This is my first visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since it was built, and I must say I am quite impressed with the facility you have here,” the President said. “This is a better appointed structure than the Flagstaff House—we might have to switch,” he added, drawing laughter from the gathered dignitaries.

President Mahama also recalled the aftermath of the fire that destroyed the Ministry’s former building, which led to a temporary relocation. “I remember when your building got burnt, we hosted you for a while at the Flagstaff House,” he recounted. “So you must be kind enough to return the favour someday,” he quipped.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry’s new complex, located in Accra, was completed in 2023 following the fire incident in 2015 that left the original structure in ruins.

The new facility includes state-of-the-art meeting rooms, upgraded security infrastructure, and improved office spaces designed to meet the evolving needs of 21st-century diplomacy.
