Former Member of Parliament for the Ashaiman Constituency, Alfred Agbesi, has passed on.
As of the time of this report, the cause of his death has not been disclosed, according to MyNewsGH.
Agbesi represented the people of Ashaiman from 2005 until 2016. He lost his seat to the current MP, Ernest Norgbey, during the National Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries in 2015.
Throughout his political career, Alfred Agbesi achieved several notable milestones. In 2008, following his re-election, he was appointed to represent Ghana in the ECOWAS Parliament. He was part of the Ghanaian delegation in both 2009 and 2013, playing a role in shaping regional policy and dialogue.
Within Ghana’s Parliament, Agbesi also held influential positions, including serving as Deputy Majority Leader.
His political journey, however, was not without setbacks. In 2017, he was involved in a serious accident when his vehicle collided with an articulated truck on the Tema-Aflao Highway near Dawhenya, close to the Miotso campus of Central University. He was rushed to the Tema General Hospital, where he received medical treatment.
Agbesi is remembered for his contributions to both national and regional legislative processes.
