Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has revealed that a staggering GH¢8,256,000.00 was deposited into an Ezwich account belonging to the former Director General of the National Service Authority (NSA), Mr. Osei-Assibey Antwi, during the 2022/2023 service year.

The disclosure forms part of a broader investigation into alleged financial improprieties at the NSA, spearheaded by the government’s special anti-corruption unit, Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL).

Speaking at a press briefing in Accra on Friday, June 13, Dr. Ayine confirmed that the funds were traced directly to an Ezwich account registered in the name of Mr. Osei-Assibey Antwi, adding a significant layer of evidence to the case.

“During the 2022/2023 service year, GH¢8,256,000.00 was paid into Ezwich account number 1177042059, registered to the suspect, Mr. Osei-Assibey. Evidence gathered indicates he personally accessed the funds,” Dr. Ayine said.

The investigation took a critical turn when law enforcement officials conducted a search at the suspect’s residence and recovered the Ezwich card tied to the account, reinforcing the connection between the accused and the suspicious transactions.

Dr. Ayine stressed that the probe remains active and assured the public of the government’s unwavering commitment to accountability.

He stated that the administration would pursue every legal avenue to retrieve misappropriated public funds and ensure that those responsible face justice.

The case against Mr. Osei-Assibey Antwi adds to a growing list of high-profile investigations under the ORAL taskforce, which has been tasked with rooting out systemic corruption and recovering state resources lost to embezzlement.
