Frustration mounts as 2023 trained teachers demand immediate release of NSS certificates

The Coalition of Unemployed Trained Teachers (CUTT) has issued a passionate call to the National Service Authority (NSA) to release the long-overdue National Service certificates for the 2023 batch of trained teachers who completed their one-year mandatory service in February 2025.

According to CUTT, all 2023 graduates from the 46 Public Colleges of Education across the country submitted their Annual Evaluation Forms before the December 31, 2024 deadline, making them eligible for their service certificates.

It added that despite a public assurance from the NSA on May 7, 2025, that the certificates would be released soon, no tangible progress has been made.

In an official press statement signed by its leadership, CUTT revealed that a follow-up letter submitted on May 21, 2025, has not been responded, deepening the sense of uncertainty and frustration among members.

The coalition stressed that the lack of certificates is not just an administrative delay; it is a barrier to vital life opportunities.

“Many trained teachers are unable to apply for jobs with the Ghana Education Service (GES) where the certificate is a key requirement and are also blocked from further education or other employment prospects.

“This delay is having a ripple effect on our livelihoods. We are stuck in limbo after fulfilling all obligations. We call on the National Service Authority to act swiftly,” the statement emphasized.

CUTT has appealed to the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Education Service, and all major media outlets, to intervene.

The Coalition remains hopeful that the appropriate authorities will respond promptly and restore hope to thousands of young, qualified teachers who are eager to contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s education sector.
