The Ga Traditional Council and the Ga Paramount Stool are set to officially lift the ban on drumming and noise-making today, Wednesday, June 12, 2025, at a ceremony scheduled for 1:00 pm at Gbese Blohum and the Ga Paramount Stool House at Abola, Ussher Fort.
The ban, which began on May 12, is a significant aspect of Ga tradition, observed to allow for prayers, spiritual cleansing, and the pacification of the gods.
During this period, residents, churches, and event organisers were expected to comply with the directive by refraining from playing loud music, drumming, and other forms of noise in public.
The lifting of the ban marks the end of this sacred, month-long observance and the beginning of the Homowo festival season.
The ceremony will feature traditional rites and the symbolic sounding of drums, signalling the return of normalcy and the beginning of celebrations.
The lifting of the ban officially paves the way for this year’s Homowo Festival, a deeply revered celebration that symbolises the Ga people’s triumph over hunger and commemorates abundance, unity, and cultural heritage.
