Gas supply disrupted after technical glitch on Jubilee FPSO — GNPC, Ghana Gas

A technical fault on the Jubilee Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel, also known as the Kwame Nkrumah FPSO, has temporarily disrupted the export of gas to the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, May 10, 2025, at approximately 4:30 PM.

In a joint statement released today by the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and the Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas), the agencies confirmed that a gas system trip was responsible for the interruption. Efforts are currently underway to identify the root cause of the issue and carry out the necessary repairs.

“Our technical teams are working closely with the operator to ensure the problem is resolved quickly and safely,” the release stated, emphasizing the priority being placed on restoring the gas supply.

Despite the setback in gas exports, authorities were quick to assure the public that oil production operations on the FPSO have not been affected and remain stable.

The statement called for continued patience and understanding from stakeholders, adding that updates will be provided as the situation develops.

The Jubilee FPSO is a critical asset in Ghana’s upstream oil and gas industry, serving as a central hub for offshore oil production and gas export to onshore facilities like Atuabo, which processes gas for domestic use and power generation.
