The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have launched an investigation into allegations that seven military personnel, including three officers and four soldiers, assaulted three civilians in Kumasi.

The alleged incident, which took place on Friday, March 28, 2025, reportedly stemmed from accusations that the victims had stolen a mobile phone belonging to another civilian.

According to a statement released by the Department of Public Relations at Burma Camp, the civilians are said to have suffered varied degrees of injuries as a result of the assault.

In response to the allegations, the Military Police and the Ashanti Regional Police CID have taken over the case, and the accused military personnel have been placed under closed arrest while investigations continue.

Brigadier General E. Aggrey-Quashie, Director General of Public Relations, assured the public that any military personnel found guilty would be dealt with according to the law. The Military High Command also urged the families and friends of the victims to remain calm and await the outcome of the investigation.

This incident has sparked concerns among the public regarding military conduct and human rights, with many calling for transparency and accountability in the probe. The Ghana Armed Forces have reiterated their commitment to upholding discipline and professionalism within their ranks.
