Ghana is ranked 10th in Africa in June 2025 with the highest fuel prices, despite fuel prices falling for the 7th time in 2025.

The country’s fuel prices of $1.399 rank it 60th globally.

According to GlobalPetrolPrices.com, fuel prices are high in Ghana despite the cedi appreciating significantly by 24% since the beginning of the year.

Central African Republic ($1.830) was ranked 1st in Africa with the highest fuel prices.

It was followed by Senegal ($1.725), Zimbabwe ($1.540), Cote d’Ivoire ($1.490), and Burkina Faso ($1.481) in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th positions, respectively.

In the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th are Cameroon ($1.464), Malawi ($1.460), Morocco ($1.442), and Uganda ($1.402).

Compared to the top 10 list last month, the fuel prices for the Central African Republic, Senegal, Zimbabwe, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Malawi, and Morocco all went up in June 2025.

However, Guinea and Sierra Leone fell off the list, giving way to Ghana and Uganda.

Fuel prices went down at the pumps beginning June 16, 2025.

Some selected stations quoted a litre of petrol at GH¢10.99.

Diesel also declined to GH¢12.45 from GH¢12.75.

The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies earlier told Joy Business that the cedi’s continuous appreciation against the US dollar was a major reason for the reduction at the pumps.

In addition, the Chamber said the government’s decision to suspend the GH¢1 levy also averted a price increase.
