Richard Ahiagbah, the National Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has slammed the government of John Dramani Mahama for revoking recruitments made after December 7, 2024.
Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, on Tuesday, February 11, announced in a statement that the appointments and recruitments in question were not in compliance with established good governance practices and principles.
As a result, the statement directed: “Heads of Government Institutions…to take the necessary steps to annul any such appointments or recruitments and submit a comprehensive report on the actions taken to this Office by February 17, 2025.”
Reacting to this in a social media post on Tuesday, Mr. Ahiagbah criticized the directive, saying it demonstrates that the President is only serving the interests of his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“Unlike President Akufo-Addo and others before him, President John Dramani Mahama suggests that he has come only for card-bearing NDC members. This view is crystallized by the revocation of appointments and recruitments under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia Administration,” part of his post read.
Mr. Ahiagbah further asserted that Ghanaians affected by what he described as “partisan cruelty” will never forgive the President and his party.
“The families, friends, children, neighbors, and even the enemies of all these Ghanaians will not forget this partisan cruelty.
“The revocation is evidence of the NDC-Mahama Administration’s mean-spiritedness toward these fellow Ghanaians who have earned a legitimate opportunity to work,” he wrote.
