
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has implemented a significant reshuffling of its Regional Health Directors, a move aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery across the country.
The reassignments, set to take effect on April 14, 2025, are part of a broader strategy to strengthen healthcare administration and ensure the effective execution of GHS policies.
Key Reassignments
Dr. Samuel Kwabena Boakye-Boateng, previously Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS) for the Upper East Region, will now serve as Director of Policy, Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Division (PPMED) at the GHS headquarters.
Dr. Kennedy T.C. Brightson, former Medical Superintendent at Shai-Osudoku Municipal Hospital, has been appointed Acting Director of Family Health at GHS headquarters.
Dr. Abdulai Abukari, previously RDHS for the Northern Region, is now Director of Special Duties at GHS headquarters.
Dr. Alberta Adjebeng Biritwum-Nyarko (Mrs.), formerly Director at PPMED, GHS headquarters, has been reassigned as RDHS for the Central Region.
Dr. Marion Okoh-Owusu, previously Director at Family Health Division (FHD), GHS headquarters, will now serve as RDHS for the Bono East Region.
Dr. Braimah Baba Abubakari, former RDHS for the North East Region, has been transferred to the Upper East Region in the same capacity.
Dr. Damien Punguyire, previously RDHS for the Upper West Region, will now lead the Eastern Region.
Dr. Josephat Ana-Imwine Nyuzaghi, former RDHS for the Savannah Region, will now serve as RDHS for the Upper West Region.
Dr. Emmanuel Atsu Dodor, previously RDHS for the Ahafo Region, has been reassigned to the Volta Region.
Dr. Akosua A. Owusu-Sarpong (Mrs.), former RDHS for the Greater Accra Region, will now take up the role in the Ahafo Region.
Dr. Chrysantus Kubio, previously RDHS for the Volta Region, will now serve as RDHS for the Bono East Region.
Dr. Paulina Clara Appiah, former RDHS for the Bono East Region, has been reassigned to the Western North Region.
Dr. Godfred Kwabena Sarpong, previously RDHS for the Western North Region, will now take charge of the Northern Region.
Dr. John Ekow Otoo, former Medical Director at the Upper West Regional Hospital, has been appointed RDHS for the North East Region.
Dr. Robert Amesiya, previously RDHS for the Savannah Region, will now serve as Acting Regional Director for the Greater Accra Region.
