GOILs new management embarks on prudent growth trajectory – Group CEO

Mr Edward Abambire Bawa, GOIL PLC Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, has asserted that the new board of directors and management team at GOIL will work together to improve upon the successes chalked up by the previous management.

“We will embark on a prudent growth trajectory to maintain GOIL as the number one Oil Marketing Company in the country and extend our operations as a dominant force across the downstream petroleum sector,” Mr Bawa stated.

Mr. Bawa, speaking during the recent Extra Ordinary General Meeting of shareholders, noted that the management team would work towards improving shareholder value and increasing dividend payment, which is dear to the heart of every shareholder.

The new GOIL Group Chief Executive and Managing Director, who is also an energy expert and public servant with almost two decades of experience in energy policy, emphasized that the company would change strategy where needed.

Nana Philip Archer, the new Board Chairman, speaking after the endorsement of the board by shareholders, noted that the board will strive to achieve a greater return on investment in respect of new projects made by the company.

Nana Archer, a seasoned executive with over 20 years of experience in leadership roles in multi-national corporations, stressed the need to build on the GOIL achievement growth foundation, which would be more profitable for GOIL.

Others on the board are Dr Thomas Kofi Manu, Dr. Evelyn Lamisi Asuah, Mr. Sylvester Kotey, and Mr. Afetsi Awoonor; Mr Augustine Angaa Dayuo, Dr. Kwamena Minta Nyarku and Professor Peace Mamle Yoko Tetteh, and Mr Edward Abambire Bawa, GOIL PLC Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, while Nana Ama Kusi-Appouh will serve as secretary to the board.

The Board will provide professional direction to the GOIL Management team headed by Mr Bawa, which includes Dr. Marcus Deo Dake, Head of Corporate Affairs; Nana Ama Kusi-Appouh, Solicitor Secretary; Ing. Denis Nii-Komiete Amui, Head of Operations; Kingsley Ansah, Head of Estates; and Augustine Boateng, Head of Fuels Marketing.

Others are Mahamadu Nurudeen Bayensi, Chief Internal Auditor; Roger Oteng Baah, Head of IT; Millicent Ocquaye, Head of Admin and HR; Ing. Joshua Kwabena Duodu, Head of Technical and Special Products; Marian Thompson Fordjor, Head Of HSSEQ; and Robert Nii Lartey, Acting Group Chief Finance Officer.

GOIL subsidiaries are headed by Amentor Sam Aziakar, Managing Director, GOEnergy Limited; Anyeyure L.J. Adongo, Managing Director, GOBitumen; and Dr. Ing. Belinda Boadi, Head of GOIL Upstream Limited.

Meanwhile, shareholders of GOIL PLC at an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) in Accra have endorsed the appointment of a new nine-member Board of Directors.

The EGM, both in-person and online, organized to approve the new board of directors, also served as a platform for the old Board of Directors to officially hand over the mantle to the newly constituted board.
