Gomoa Ekwamkrom Royal Family petitions Regional House of Chiefs over alleged bias judgment

The Aboradze Royal Family of Gomoa Ekwamkrom in the Central Region last Friday petitioned the Central Regional House of Chiefs, demanding the withdrawal of an allegedly biased judgment led by the Omanhene of Mankessim, Osagyefo Amanfo Edu VI, against the legally installed Chief of Gomoa Ekwamkrom, Nana Dr. Okogyeaman Awuahaa II.

According to the spokesperson for the Aboradze Royal Family, Nana Osaberima Kow Botwe I, Gomoa Ekwamkrom already has a substantive chief, and the community will not allow anyone to impose an illegitimate chief through the backdoor.

Nana Osaberima Kow Botwe I emphasized in the petition that Nana Dr. Okogyeaman Awuahaa II was properly selected from the Awuahaa Royal Gate based on a rotational system, making him the rightful successor after the previous chief resigned.

“All the legal rituals were performed as custom and tradition demand. Nana Dr. Okogyeaman Awuahaa II was subsequently introduced to the Omanhene of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI, and the Traditional Council,” he stated.

“He swore the Oath of Allegiance to the Omanhene and his Nananom as the substantive Chief of Gomoa Ekwamkrom and has since been gazetted as the substantive Chief of Gomoa Ekwamkrom in the Gomoa Central District of the Central Region.”

The petition questioned why the Omanhene of Mankessim, Osagyefo Amanfo Edu VI, was allegedly trying to discredit Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI and the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Council by entertaining claims that Nana Dr. Okogyeaman Awuahaa II was not properly installed.

“From a layman’s perspective, even if such allegations were true, why was Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI not invited to the Regional House of Chiefs to testify? Instead, Osagyefo Amanfo Edu VI took a personal interest in delivering a judgment against Nana Dr. Okogyeaman Awuahaa II.”

The spokesperson further cautioned the Omanhene of Mankessim to refrain from interfering in Aboradze Royal Family affairs, urging him to focus on pressing issues within his own jurisdiction.

“He is Omanhene, and we do not wish to speak against him, but he is warned not to interfere with the Gomoa Ekwamkrom Aboradze Royal Family or matters concerning our gates. He should rather focus on the deadly chieftaincy disputes in Mankessim, where people have been shot dead,” he declared.

Nana Osaberima Kow Botwe I reaffirmed that Gomoa Ekwamkrom remains a peaceful community, and no one should disrupt its stability.

Meanwhile, Ebusuapanyin Griffin of the Aboradze Royal Family also urged the Central Regional House of Chiefs to call Osagyefo Amanfo Edu VI and his team to order, stressing that Gomoa Ekwamkrom already has a legitimate chief.

“We have a substantive Chief in the person of Nana Dr. Okogyeaman Awuahaa II, who is spearheading development in the community,” he asserted.
