A tragic accident on the Atonsu-Agogo highway involving a motorcycle tricycle, popularly known as “Aboboyaa,” and a drilling vehicle has resulted in one death and left three others severely injured.
The unfortunate incident occurred on Friday, April 11, 2025, around 10:30 a.m., near Atonsu High-Tension in the Ashanti Region.
According to a report by OTEC FM’s Osei Akoto Kanu, the Aboboyaa rider attempted a wrongful overtaking maneuver, leaving the driver of the drilling vehicle with no option but to crash into it from behind, causing severe damage to the tricycle.
The Aboboyaa became trapped under the drilling vehicle and was dragged for about 30 minutes before the vehicle finally came to a stop.
Eyewitnesses reported that the Aboboyaa rider died on the spot, while his mate, who was seated beside him, sustained critical injuries.
Police transported the body to Agogo Hospital, where the injured mate is currently on admission and fighting for his life.
