President John Dramani Mahama has appointed an eight-member committee to organize the National Education Forum.

The committee, led by Professor George K. T. Oduro, former Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, has been given two weeks to submit a comprehensive report and action plan.

This initiative aligns with President Mahama’s pledge to improve education policy and stakeholder engagement in Ghana.

Other committee members include distinguished academics and professionals such as Professor Goski Alabi, Professor Rosemary Bosu, Samuel Awuku, Ph.D., Professor Smile Dzisi, Kofi Asare, Stephen Owusu, and Inusah Shiraz.

The committee’s Terms of Reference (TOR) outline critical tasks, including:

Developing themes and sub-themes to guide stakeholder engagement.
Identifying key stakeholders such as students, parents, teachers, researchers, policymakers, and civil society organizations.
Creating a detailed agenda for discussions, including thematic breakout sessions and plenaries.
Selecting a venue and date for the forum.
Establishing a secretariat to document proceedings.
Proposing a budget for the event.
Drafting a national education policy framework with an implementation plan within three weeks after the forum.

The National Education Forum is expected to serve as a platform for dialogue among education stakeholders, policymakers, and researchers. The discussions will focus on addressing pressing challenges in Ghana’s education sector, improving curriculum development, and ensuring inclusive education policies.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Spokesperson to the President, confirmed the committee’s appointment.
