
The Ministry of Roads and Highways has announced plans to reintroduce the toll collection system for bridges to generate revenue for road maintenance and related infrastructure improvements.
In a press release issued on Thursday, the Ministry stated that it would implement an open, transparent and competitive procurement process to develop the new toll system.
“The Ministry is committed to introducing a system that addresses the current tolling and road maintenance funding challenges of the country,” the statement said.
The government aims to establish a driven toll collection mechanism to support ongoing road infrastructure development and maintenance efforts.
The Ministry has assured the public of its commitment to a fair and transparent approach in developing the new toll collection system.
