The Oti Regional Director of Health Services, Dr. Osei Kuffour Affreh, is set to assume a new role in the Bono Region, while Alhaji Alhassan Mohammed Sani, Deputy Director of Finance, will be moving to the Upper East Region.
A farewell ceremony was held in their honour on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the Oti Regional Health Directorate in Worawora.
The event drew doctors, regional and district health personnel, traditional leaders, and staff from the directorate, who gathered to celebrate the achievements of the two senior officials and to wish them well in their new assignments.
In his remarks, Alhaji Sani expressed deep appreciation to the traditional authorities—particularly those in Worawora—for the warm working environment and community support during his five-year service in the region.
He praised Dr. Affreh’s leadership and acknowledged the collective efforts of the health team, which helped the region earn positive reviews during recent UNICEF audits.
He also extended personal thanks to colleagues and administrative staff whose dedication contributed to the directorate’s success.
Dr. Osei Kuffour Affreh, in a heartfelt and emotional address, reflected on his tenure as Regional Director, describing the Oti Region as his “second home.”
He thanked Nana Owusu Afari for his warm welcome and for fostering productive collaboration between the health directorate and traditional authorities.
Dr. Affreh highlighted the unity and hard work of health professionals in the region, which earned the admiration of other health directorates across the country. He credited much of his professional development to the mentorship of Dr. Timothy Letsa and emphasized the value of strong leadership and team spirit.
Recalling a period when he was nearly transferred, Dr. Affreh underscored his commitment to serving the people of Oti, noting that every challenge had strengthened his resolve and connection to the region. He urged health workers to uphold a culture of continuous improvement and mentorship.
Chairing the occasion, Reverend Harry Nii Kwatei-Owoo, Director at the Oti Regional Coordinating Council, applauded both officials for their service and leadership. He wished them success in their new roles and encouraged continued dedication to Ghana’s public health mission.
