Honoring History, Embracing Unity: Celebrating Bole - Bamboi’s First MCE and the Legacy of Leadership

Let me begin by extending my heartfelt thank you to all who made history possible in Bole-Bamboi. With a deep sense of pride and great political appreciation, I join the people of Bamboi and the entire district to celebrate the confirmation of Hon. Abdulai Mahmoud, a proud son of Bamboi, as the First Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) from our land. This milestone is not just a personal achievement; it is a community and district victory and a clear sign of inclusive governance under the visionary leadership of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana and the pride of our land.

To the Assembly Members, thank you for your overwhelming endorsement. Your decision reflects maturity, foresight, and trust in the leadership of one of our own. To the revered Bolewura and the entire Traditional Council, your blessings and wisdom have steadied this process.

We also render our heartfelt thanks to the Paramount Chief of the North Mo Traditional Area, the leadership of the Jama Traditional Area, and all other traditional leaders within and around Bole-Bamboi. Your fatherly guidance, quiet diplomacy, and dignified presence have added weight to this appointment. Your support gives us cultural confidence and deepens the honor.

To the Regional and district executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), your support proves that political leadership, when combined with grassroots endorsement, leads to lasting impact. We also thank all able supporters from Bamboi, our Dega (Mo) family, and the good people of Bole-Bamboi for your unwavering solidarity.

But above all, we extend our deepest gratitude to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the pride of Bole and indeed of Ghana. Your Excellency, by entrusting this task to a son of Bamboi, you have once again demonstrated faith in grassroots leadership and reaffirmed your commitment to inclusive development. We do not take this for granted. The whole of Bamboi stands behind your nominee. We shall support him. We shall help him. And yes, we shall rebuke him when necessary; for in making him succeed, we honor your legacy and deepen the development agenda you began.

To the youth of Bole, I urge you: let us rise above petty divisions. You are heirs of a rare political heritage – how many towns in Ghana can boast of producing a sitting President? This is not an ordinary moment. Let us guard it jealously. Let us not be the generation that failed to appreciate what others can only dream of. Let us be the proud defenders of the legacy that began with our own son.

We must avoid the destructive path of unnecessary demonstrations and chaotic street protests. Our differences, especially with our brother the President, must be handled indoors – as a family would handle its own. If tempers rise, let us sit as Gonjas, as brothers – not as adversaries in public view. In fact, if any of our Gonja brothers say they cannot reach the President, we the Mos are right here. We will whisper to him – gently or forcefully – and he will repent! (laughs)

On a lighter note, though I completed secondary school in 2005 but our President was my junior, he feared me o! I used to punish him for delaying in prep time! So, if our brothers in Bole feel he is not listening, please, bring him to me – I will restore order! (laughs again). But in all seriousness, we must rally around President John Dramani Mahama, both as brothers and as citizens of Ghana, to ensure his success is our pride.

This is a call to unity, national security, and developmental cooperation. Governance is not an individual race. It is a collective responsibility. The confirmation of Hon. Abdulai Mahmoud is not a political favor – it is a charge, and we, the people of Bamboi and the Dega (Mo) communities, will ensure that he performs. He carries our hopes and the endorsement of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama. He must not fail, and he shall not – because we will stand with him and by him.

Let us support the President not just in words, but in deeds, through our ideas, prayers, and collective actions. I even suggest that we launch a monthly intercessory prayer meeting for His Excellency, to cover him, to pray for his wisdom, strength, and protection as he carries the burdens of leadership for all of us.

Let this moment mark a new chapter of cooperation, growth, and loyalty in Bole-Bamboi. May this confirmation be the beginning of more inclusive opportunities, and may we all remember: when our own son sits on the highest seat, the honor is ours to guard.

Once again, thank you to all.
Long live Bamboi.
Long live Bole-Bamboi.
Long live our Chiefs and Elders.
Long live President John Dramani Mahama.

And long live Ghana.
Francis Jebuni
